An Attitude of Gratitude

As we now enter the 5th week of the Covid-19 virus lock down, I look back on this in wonder.

My son asked me if anything in my life compares to this Pandemic.  I thought for a moment and said that the Cuban Missile Crisis did.  For days, we all worried about whether we would be alive the next morning.

This Pandemic is much different.  We did not lose any friends or family as the crisis in the 60’s was avoided.  Today we are losing thousands of friends and family.

Maggy and I are in Florida.  We are waiting for the stay at home orders to be lifted so we can return to Holly Shores.  I don’t remember having been home bound this long.  It certainly has given us time to reflect on our good fortunes in life; each other, our family; our co-workers, and friends.  We have said more than once during this forced “vacation” to thank God for our blessings. Our attitude remains positive that this will soon be over and we will be able to express our gratitude that most of us survived and will once again prosper.

I hope that you and your family had an opportunity to really focus on each other during this trying time.  For most of us, this is the first time we have ever spent so much quality time with each other.  A time to read a good book, play games with the kids, get in the kitchen and make some real homemade meals you always wanted to do but “never had the time”; I made homemade oatmeal cookies that included chocolate, raisins, and crushed walnuts!  They were delicious!  If you want the recipe, drop me a note.

Back at Holly Shores Christine, Bill, Lisa, Shawn, Pedro, Dustin and Oguer are working hard to be sure the park is ready when you return. Wait until you see the new patio next to the Pavilion! Don Miller did a great job with the help of Don D. and Oguer. Our goal will be to put a roof over it to provide wonderful shaded outside seating for our dear guests.

The whole team is anxious to re-open as soon as Governor Murphy clears the way.

See you all soon and don’t forget to keep a positive Attitude and show your Gratitude for all the good we have in our lives.

Stay safe!

-Dave
